The opening event for 2014 was the Collie Icebreaker and it certainly lived up to its name!!! Saturday and Sunday… HOT, mid 30’s, little or no breeze and then there was practice, qualifying and racing. HQ’s on Saturday and Saloon cars on Sunday, all mixed with Historic, Classic Formula and Regularity cars.
The racing was fast and furious in all categories with a fair few off road incidents, as few bumps and bingles, a few hurt egos but all in all everyone enjoyed the whole weekend.
Thanks has to go to Ken for organising our side of things, to the VSCC for putting on a very successful weekend’s racing and to Jason James and Motoring Southwest for hosting and putting up with all of us Perthites. Congratulations to all the drivers, winners and losers, for giving the Officials and Spectators an entertaining couple of days.
And NO I am not going to repeat any of the stories Dennis told us when we had our meal at The Federal Hotel… please ladies present!!! Pete and Tyler managed to come down late on Saturday night, braving all the roos the area tried to throw at them… at least he had the works ute if they did hit one.
Apart from thanking the crew who came down from Perth (about 10 of us), we can also welcome a couple of new members, Dave Port and Matt Port from Australind, thanks for coming and helping us out so ably and you’re very welcome any time when you can make it up to Barbagallo’s.
